Call for Submissions

Interested in contributing to La Platica del Norte ? We would like to consider your work! We welcome progressive writing from La Raza/Diverse populations

  • Cultural/historical concepts writings – Aztlan – history, language, current news from wherever La Raza resides, traditions, Dia de Los Muertos; our indigenous/diverse roots; women’s stories; food/recipes; poetry; the arts; indigenous medicine; curanderismo; natural foods – non-sprayed and non-GMO, sustainable farming; gentrification; neoliberal policy; colonialism; apartheid; racism and its impact on peoples of the U.S. and the world.

Diverse = Asian, Arab, Indigenous, Black, Pacific Islander, Latinos

  • Solidarity writings on populations experiencing the consequences of colonialism, capitalism, racism, apartheid, gentrification, and exclusion are very welcome; Black and White line drawings and photos b/w and color are also welcome. All art work or photos need to include credit and date.

Submission information

We do not pay for submitted pieces, we have no $ to do this. We publish La Platica from our own pockets in the interest of the community of El Norte.

Articles should be

· 500 to 1K words. No longer, please

· Send as a Word doc attachment only

· Please edit your docs, we do not type or edit. If we feel the doc needs editing we will return it to you for re-writing, or recommend a terrific professional editor

·      Writing accepted in Spanish, Spanglish, English

·      Please include a short bio, 3 sentences at most.

·      Feel free to distribute this call for submissions
