Fifteen years in the making:
Los Alamos Revisited: A Workers’ History
By Peter Malmgren and Kay Matthews
Reading and Book Signing at the Bond House in Española on Thursday, January 18, 6:30 p.m.
The authors of a new book on Los Alamos National Laboratory called Los Alamos Revisited: A Workers’ History, will be at the Bond House to introduce this book that gives voice to the many workers—technicians, engineers, truck drivers, tradespeople—who came to Los Alamos after World War II to help build this home of the atomic bomb. Oral historian Peter Malmgren, with the help of local writer Kay Matthews, have turned the oral histories Peter conducted with these workers in the early 2000s into a story that explores their origins, experiences immediately after the war years, bomb testing in the Pacific, the health and safety issues they faced, and their attempts to hold the Lab accountable. The authors will read from the book and also share excerpts from some of the oral histories that Peter conducted.
